Recognizing outstanding Kuwaiti high school students of both literature and science branches

Recognizingoutstanding Kuwaiti high school students of both literature and science  branches:

The Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences has recognized and honored on Wednesday, 29 June 2016 the outstanding high school graduates with the participation of the Foundation’s scientific centers. The event, which was held at KFAS headquarters,  focused on recognizing outstanding Kuwaiti high school students of both literature and science branches.

On recognizing the outstanding Kuwaiti high school graduates, Dr. Adnan Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences, said "based on the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Foundation is keen to disseminate scientific culture, to provide a suitable environment that encourages the pursuit and the acquisition of knowledge, and to promote scientific research through its various departments and various programs, both at the Foundation or its affiliated scientific centers. The Director General added that H.H. the Amir has consistently supported the young generation who are "the essential and solid foundation of the present and the future."

Dr. Shihab-Eldin added that the Foundation concentrates its efforts and commits its resources for the development of the talented youth through a number of activities in its various centers such as Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, which was established by the Foundation to embrace those with talent and creative ideas. Another venue is the Scientific Center, which avails them a summer camp where entertainment and scientific culture intertwine to develop their capacities and expand the horizon of their knowledge and thinking. He added that KFAS has entered into bilateral collaborative agreements with many prestigious universities to allow students the chance to uncover their unique potential and launch their creative energies to adopt scientific methods in research, analysis and problem solving as a basis for community development to propel the Kuwaiti society towards embracing a knowledge-based economy."

The event has involved handing out valuable prizes such as a gold medal for excellence, a laptop computer as well as a nominal financial reward. The Foundation also awarded a grand prize comprising of a seven-day field trip to Malaysia where students will go on multiple visits to the most prominent incubators and technology industries in that country, which are the hallmark of Malaysia and other similar countries which emerged technically and in terms of information and technology. The Kuwait Scientific Center has recognized the students by awarding them a one year free family pass to visit the Center.

Dr. Shihab-Eldin also reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to the development of science and dissemination of knowledge to enhance and serve the development of society and particularly the development of Kuwaiti student under the leadership of the Board of Directors, which has the honor to be headed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The Director General pointed out that the recognition event comes as part of the Foundation's strategy (2012 - 2016) which, under the guidance of H.H. the Amir, pays special attention and dedicates some of its programs to benefit the young people and direct them towards scientific studies through a number of programs at KFAS and its affiliate centers that aim to care for the outstanding and talented young people and to motivate them to continue their studies and maintain their outstanding performance.
